The Hampels Pipe's bowl is carved out of extra extra grade Briar wood. The detachable stem is crafted from Tulip wood. This wood has a flame like pattern with colors that range from a deep red to a bright yellow.

The Tree: Small with an irregular trunk. Heartwood logs are 2-8" in diameter.
The Grain: Fine texture, high luster, and takes a high polish. Hard and heavy. Somewhat difficult to work.
Source Region: Tropical South America, especially Northeast Brazil
