Classic Tiger Wakizashi by Paul Chen / Hanwei
The Classic Tiger Wakizashi features a K120C Swedish powder steel blade, differentially tempered using traditional claying methods. The blade showcases a distinct grain pattern (hada) and a prominent temper line (hamon). Both sides of the blade are adorned with a groove (bo-hi). The tsuba, made of blackened iron, depicts a "stalking tiger" inlaid in brass. The handle (tsuka) is covered with ray skin (same) and wrapped in high-quality Japanese cotton. The deeply lacquered black saya (scabbard) is beautifully inlaid with brass bamboo leaves.
This wakizashi is part of Hanwei's Tiger series, a revival of their popular folded steel katana line from the early 2000s. It's designed to pair with the Classic Tiger Katana (SH12040) and Tanto (SH12060) to form a complete daisho set.
