$184.95
Our 13th Century Type XIV Sword by Deepeeka, a faithful recreation of a remarkable original dating back to 1275-1300, as cataloged by Ewart Oakeshott. This sword, among the best-preserved medieval specimens, reflects the craftsmanship of a bygone era, evoking the essence of high-status weaponry wielded by professional warriors, knights, and nobles.
The broad blade, designed for formidable cutting power, is adorned with carefully crafted dual fullers, a testament to the skill of the bladesmith. The multi-faceted crossguard and pommel reveal surprising complexity upon closer inspection, bearing the mark of a skilled cutler. Originally housed in the Danish National Museum, this sword serves as a tangible link to the past.
Our recreation faithfully captures the essence of the original, featuring a C60 high carbon steel blade, well-tempered to achieve a hardness of 50-52 HRc. The stout wooden grip is elegantly wrapped in vibrant red leather, while red enamel filling in the pommel slot adds a touch of sophistication. The sword comes accompanied by a meticulously carved wooden scabbard, bound in high-quality vegetable-tanned leather matching the grip. A protective brass chape and an integrated sword belt, crafted from thick leather with brass hardware, complete this historically inspired ensemble.
