Our Functional Renaissance Steel Shield is made from 18 gauge steel with a rolled edge and leather grips. Popular from the late 15th until well into the 17th century. As the Middle Ages gave way to the Renaissance, wood shields gradually yielded in popularity to steel shields, such as the round, steel buckler. A terrific asset for mercenaries in crashing through lines of pikemen, this shield was strong and easily maneuverable.
