Product Description
The Great bascinet like our 14th Century Great Bascinet was the first helm to be worn with complete suits of plate armor, and could be found on the battle-fields all over Europe. They were used in battle up until the last quarter of the Hundred Years War 1337 - 1453 between England and France. They are a development from the earlier pig faced or hound skull bascinets which were shorter, with mail aventail protection for the throat and neck. Our Great Bascinet replaces the mail with plate armour, the additional throat plate and the back of the helmet's skull is extended to cover the neck. The face is protected by a hinged slightly rounded visor pierced with numerous holes for sight and ventilation. Modeled after our LARP hybrid polyurethane Great Bascinet ,the 14th Century Great Bascinet is made from 19 gauge steel with a hammered finish. This medieval helmet includes an adjustable leather liner and chin strap. Internal circumference is approximately 26 inches.
