Our Houppelande and Chaperon (Hat) Set is styled after an early 15th century Houppelande and includes the Medieval Hat or Chaperon. The outer sleeves have a contrasting lining and upper arm dagging. Made from rich cotton Velveteen and custom made to your measurements. This medieval Houppelande and Chaperon set makes a great medieval outfit for LARP, Re-enactments, Stage use and Faire wear. The Houppelande was an ample draped medieval outer garment worn during the middle ages with it’s height of fashion in the mid 14th century to early fifteenth century. Mainly a male garment, the Houppelande was worn by both men and women. These medieval garments were very full and usually belted in the middle to form pleating. Houppelandes were made from many lengths between the knee to ground level with front or side openings and many different style arms. Usually made from rich fabrics with contrasting lining the sleeves were large with dagged edges. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for completion. Other items sold separately.
