Product Description
Our Kai Tanto features a folded powder-steel blade with a notare midare hamon and mokume-style hada. The blade is mounted in Aikuchi-style, silver-plated koshirae, which are ocean-themed with wave decoration, a design repeated on the kozuka.
The menuki are highly detailed in the form of the Japanese spiny lobster, mounted on high-grade, full-wrap same. The saya is deeply lacquered in black.
The Sageo alone is a collector-grade item, hand-woven in silk in blue shading to white, with plum blossom decorations and tasseled ends.
The Kai Tanto is undoubtedly one of the most attractive tanto ever produced by the Hanwei forge and it will take pride of place in many collections.
