Scottish Basket Hilt Broad Sword - Double Edged Blade - 18th Century. Basket Hilt swords appeared throughout Britain from the mid-sixteenth century on, their association with the seventeenth and eighteenth century Scottish highlander has become legendary. Early highland swords as well as swords carried at the time of the Battle of Culloden (1746) used the double-edged broadsword blade.
Our Scottish Basket Hilt Broad Sword with double edge blade is replicated from period pieces of the time. Features a factory edged carbon steel blade. The steel basket guard is a typical style hilt from the mid-18th century and lined in soft red cloth. The grip is wood covered in leather and wrapped with twisted wire. Includes a steel scabbard with steel accents.
