Our Sugar Loaf Great Helm is based on those used during the mid 1200's that became the preferred Crusader Knights Helm. This style whose rounded top allowed blows to glance off afforded more protection from direct impact as the earlier flat top models. In fact, the Sugar Loaf style helm has been depicted in many medieval illustrated manuscripts of the Crusades. This beautiful hand crafted 18 gauge reproduction is full sized and wearable.
