Classic Hoplite Sword Ref: 500734 The Greek Hoplite was a tough, effective citizen-soldier, and was ferocious in defense of his home city. While they would fight fiercely among themselves, they were even fiercer in the fight against invaders, such as the Persians. Spear and shield were principal weapons, but swords were also carried, and when the spears were broken, the swords came out. This is the leaf shaped blade that was quite popular throughout the ancient world and is based on many illustrations and excavated examples. Steel guard and pommel, with wood grip covered with leather. High carbon steel blade capable of taking and keeping a razor edge. Wood scabbard covered with leather. One of the finest of the ancient world's weapons.Overall 28 1/2" Blade - 22" long, 2 1/8" wide. Wt. 2 lbs. 4 oz.

Baldric Ref: 200252 Throughout most of the world, the most common way in which a sword was carried, was at the waist. Modern concepts of the sword being worn across the back are simply not accurate. There were exceptions, as with the Scots and their large Claymore and the Ceylon's Ayda Katta. The form used most in carrying the sword, was the baldric. This belt hung from the opposite shoulder and passed diagonally across the front, the sword being suspended from the waist. Going in and out of favor as a fashion statement, it was the "in" thing as long as swords were carried. We are offering a generic baldric that is simple and plain, allowing you to wear it for many different time periods. Made of good, stout leather, it is a comfortable way to wear your sword and have it ready for action in a flash. One size. Comes with brass studs. Will adjust to fit most swords.
