From Lutel comes a vast improvement on our Live Steel Swords Ref: 4648 In answer to customer requests, By The Sword, Inc. has created a line of fully tempered, Live Steel, Full Contact Blade Swords. That was only the first part of the requests; what the customers really wanted was a functional sword built to withstand Steel to Steel competition standards and still look and feel like a real sword, and here they are. So what makes the Lutel Live Steel Swords better than their predecessors? Let's run down the list: 1. They are now being reproduced by Lutel, one of the foremost European makers of stout, affordable swords. Lutel swords have been compared with Del Tin Armi Antiche swords, and the overall quality has been found to be as good, and when it comes to the hilts, they may even be better! 2. As you know, when Lutel says "tang" they don't mean a thin threaded rod (which in itself would be an improvement over other swords). Unlike those of inferior brands, Lutel makes a very tough and reliable tang. The threads are about 0.35" (9mm) in diameter which makes a very solid hilt assembly. Shown in the picture is how Lutel creates their superior designed tang. A heavy bar of round stock is welded between the thick blade material of the sword hilt. 3. Hilt construction: Handled the competition with wooden grips, and worried about it slipping out of your hand in the middle of a fight? We had Lutel completely cover the grips in quality black leather strips for grip retention. Due to the weight of the solid steel-hand worked pommels, the swords have amazing balance (balance points range from 3.5" to 5" down the blade from the handle). 4. The blades are made from high quality spring steel and fully tempered to a ROCKWELL Hardness of 50 HRC . By The Sword has extreme confidence in these blades to out perform other live steel swords in their class. The blades are left unsharpened for safety, but being only 1mm wide, makes it virtually impossible to tell they are blunted from a short distance. (They also look great when displayed on your wall) 5. All the steel parts of these swords are "satin" finished for easy care. Rust can be removed with a plastic kitchen scrubby and WD-40 oil! 6. The overall fit and finish of these quality swords is excellent with no rattling, gaps or grind marks and because of the central fullers and distal-tapered blades you get a light, fast performance sword. These are reasonably priced production swords without that "modern" manufactured look that makes others feel like a reproduction rather than a "real" sword. 7. And finally, with a 1 YEAR GUARANTEE you will have peace of mind during practice or competition. Please note: These swords are made in small quantities and when on backorder can take approximately 8 to 12 weeks for delivery. 1 YEAR GUARANTEE Basically, the sword is warranted against breakage during the normal course of practice or competition. The blade is not covered if you try to cut a Car, Tree or other immovable object in half; as much as we believe in our blades, we know you can't overcome the laws of physics. The warranty covers the replacement of the sword only, shipping to and from is not included. The warranty will only replace a broken sword once during one year period from the time you receive your sword.		close up
