By The Sword Catalog : Coins : Charles I Farthing Historic Coin 1625 BI-150

Charles I Farthing Historic Coin

Shipping: Usually Ships within 14 Bus. Days

Guarantee: Satisfaction guaranteed, or your money back

Price: $4.50

Our Charles I Farthing Historic Coin is a replica Circa 1625 Copper Royal Farthing ** Made from Copper.

Copper farthings had been struck and issued privately under licence during the preceding reign of James I. The king would grant a license or patent to an individual in return for a fee. The individual could then make considerable profits from producing and exchanging or selling the coins. This came about because there had been a serious shortage of small change for a considerable period of time.

Obverse: A pair of crossed scepters passing through a crown or diadem. CARO D G MAG BRI

Reverse: A crown above a crude harp with a bird-like head. The original reverse inscription, continued from the obverse, would have read: FRA ET HIB REX

Each of our replica historic coins will satisfy the needs of living history groups and coin collectors. These coins are semi-replica hammered coins that really do look and feel authentic. Weights, alloys, and fineness are kept close to the originals making these replica medieval coins the best on the market. Original coins are carefully analyzed to determine engraving techniques used to recreate the dies in fine detail.

To assure that these coins are not mistaken as the real thing, the legend is slightly altered to distinguish these coins for what they are. Additionally, an example of each replica coin is held by Museums for reference.
